I am a special education teacher at Waialua High and Intermediate School, and my fiancé is a special education teacher at Wahiawa Middle School. Recently, our home was compromised by a flood. While we are more fortunate than some of our neighbors, we are still displaced and living in temporary housing as we wait for major repairs. Our floors have been ripped up and our walls are cut. We were able to save some of our belongings, but there is still so much we need to replace — our couch, rugs, tables, clothes, computer, shoes, school supplies, music equipment, workout gear, camping gear, food, and more. Though things are just things, we are eager to feel at home again. Having the support to repair our home and replace what we lost will give us the stability we need to show up for our students, their families, our faculty and friends, and our community. Many of them are facing these same challenges alongside us. Your help will make a meaningful difference in our lives and allow us to continue giving back. Thank you for considering supporting us during this difficult time.
