Help Us Rebuild After Our Home Collapsed in West Virginia
Donation protected
My mom’s apartment collapsed during Sunday’s storm in Fairmont, WV. We lost everything — clothes, documents, jewelry, furniture, appliances — nothing could be saved. My 14-year-old niece and our cat Rosie made it out alive, and for that, we’re thankful. But we’re starting completely over.
This move was supposed to be a new beginning for my mom. We’d been working so hard to get her into this apartment — a place where she could finally feel safe and settled. But out of nowhere, the building gave out during the heavy rains and flooding. I was away gathering more things to bring her, and within hours everything was gone.
It’s devastating. No renter’s insurance. No savings left. We are grateful beyond words that no lives were lost, but now we are left trying to figure out where to go from here. Anything you can give will go toward replacing the basics — clothes, food, medication, home supplies — and helping us rebuild after this nightmare.
We appreciate every dollar, every share, and every prayer. Thank you.
