On March 20, 2026, my family and I experienced a devastating flash flood that swept through our large shared rental property, as well as several other neighborhoods in Haleiwa and Waialua on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. The property suffered crippling flash flooding, and most families lost all of their belongings. We suffered total losses to several vehicles, an entire furnished studio apartment, every piece of lawn equipment, and a garage/studio filled with tools, musical instruments, and electronic equipment. The impact of this disaster has left us and our neighbors facing unimaginable challenges as we try to recover from the destruction.

The funds raised through this campaign will help us replace all the belongings that were lost in the flood, cover temporary living expenses, and assist with much-needed repairs. As a retired Army Veteran who served four deployments during the Global War on Terrorism, and as a single father to two teenage boys, this loss has been especially hard. Our sublet tenant also lost everything, and with no assistance from insurance companies due to the flood zone, we are truly starting over from scratch. Our community, made up of over 30 families and homes, is facing the same uphill battle.
