Since 2021, my family and I have been living a nightmare in what was supposed to be our forever home. After Hurricane Ida, our insurance provider offered a settlement that didn’t even cover the cost of a like-for-kind roof replacement. That was only the beginning. The resulting water damage led to a massive mold infestation, forcing us to gut our entire second floor. For five years, we have been fighting to reclaim our space. Inspired by our daughter’s simple wish to 'have her room back,' we decided to do the work ourselves, spending every cent we had on materials. However, because the settlement didn’t cover proper insulation, our HVAC unit failed from the strain. We were faced with the devastating position of having to tear down our new walls to fix the systemic issues that should have been covered years ago. We worked hard, we played by the rules, and we were left behind.

During this very cold weather, the funds raised will help us tear down the Sheetrock we put up, and hire an license contractor to add proper insulation, and rebuild our home so our daughters can have their room back and our family can finally go back to norm. Every dollar will go directly toward making our house livable again and giving our kids a safe place to continue growing up in.
