In the early hours of Wednesday, April 1, my housemates and I were awoken by fire alarms blaring throughout our home. The house was on fire in the back, and everything was orange with smoke filling the air. We rushed outside, barefoot and in our shorts, and called 911. It felt like forever for the fire department to arrive, but in reality, they were quick. By then, the whole back of the house was engulfed in flames. We were all safe, but we lost everything. Standing outside, we watched the flames consume our home, and the heat even melted my truck’s headlights and mirror.
At this point, I have nothing. I was taken to Walmart to buy shoes, socks, and a T-shirt, along with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and deodorant. We can’t get back into the house for 48 hours, and I’m hoping to salvage some clothes and my guitar and bass. My motorcycle, which I just got back from extensive repairs, was completely burned up. All funds will be used to buy shoes, clothing, and other essentials, help us set up a new place, and pay for bills associated with the damages. I’m humbled by how everyone wants to help and extremely grateful for the local fire and police departments.
Thank you for any help you can give as we start over. Your support means the world to us.
