Today, my house almost burned down with me and my children inside. There was no smoke, no smell, and no sign of fire—just the frantic knock of concerned strangers yelling, “Fire! Your house is on fire!” In an instant, everything we owned was destroyed. We were told we were lucky, that if it had happened at night, the ceiling could have collapsed on us as we slept. I am so grateful that wasn’t the case, but as I sit in this hotel room with my kids, I can only hope that God is not done saving us yet, because we need help now more than ever.

As many of you may know, I am a stay-at-home mom with no family or resources nearby. My children and I are facing this completely alone. Thankfully, the Red Cross has provided us with accommodations until Monday, but after that, I don’t know what comes next. I do know that somehow, some way, we will find a way forward. Asking for help is not easy for me, but the truth is, what we are facing is more than I can handle alone, and my children deserve so much more than this. My mind and heart are in a million pieces right now, and trying to navigate this alone while making sure my kids feel safe has been overwhelming.
