Early morning of Thanksgiving, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. A wood stove pipe fell and sparked a fire that quickly destroyed my brother’s home — the home that once belonged to our dad, who passed away just one year ago. This house was more than a building. It was our family’s anchor, the last physical piece of our father’s legacy, and the only place my brother has to live.
Since our dad’s passing, I’ve been doing everything I can to support the homestead and keep things going, especially as my brother has struggled with his mental health. This home was his safe place, his stability — and now, in a matter of moments, it’s gone. The fire has left him without shelter and both of us facing a financial emergency we were in no way prepared for.
We are incredibly fortunate to have a circle of neighbors, family friends, and community members who were brought into our lives by my dad and the kindness he showed over the years. Their support has been a blessing in the middle of this heartbreak. But the financial devastation we’re facing — especially at this time of year — is overwhelming. Between emergency needs, cleanup, loss of belongings, and the work required just to secure temporary stability, we simply cannot do this alone.
If you are able to donate, share this page, or send a kind message, it would mean the world to us. Every bit of help brings us one step closer to rebuilding and making sure my brother is safe and not left homeless during this difficult time.
Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your love. We truly appreciate every single person lifting us up right now.
