Last week, our family of three—two adults and our 7-year-old granddaughter—faced a devastating storm that changed our lives overnight. The river near our home flooded, and our cesspool overflowed, leaving us scrambling to salvage what little we could. The property owner told us we needed to clear out the rest of our belongings in plastic bins so the restoration company could begin repairs. Unfortunately, our storage shed was also flooded, ruining our oversized furniture, household items, clothes, and outdoor equipment. We were displaced and told it would take at least a month to restore our home.

Just as we were trying to recover, a second storm hit, causing even more severe flooding and wiping out everything we had left, including our car and motorcycle. Within one week, our lives were turned upside down. As the only employed adult and guardian for my 7-year-old granddaughter, I am doing my best to provide for my family during this difficult time. The funds raised will help us replace essential items like furniture, beds, food, blankets, pillows, pots, and pans—basically everything needed to make a home again.
