On the morning of January 8th, 2026, my fiancé and I woke up to discover our only car had been stolen right from our home in Nashville. We had been working hard to set ourselves up for a better life together, finishing up tasks around our home, planning for upcoming expenses, and looking forward to a fresh start in the new year. Inside the car were not just our means of transportation, but also my wallet, the tools I use for my work as a residential construction and maintenance contractor, and many of my fiancé’s personal mementos from her career as a Pediatric Respiratory Therapist at Vanderbilt University.

Losing our car has made it nearly impossible for us to get to work, church, and visit family and friends who live far from us. I moved to Nashville from Atlanta to build a new life with my fiancé, and with no immediate family nearby, we’ve had to rely on each other and our faith to get through tough times. She’s also been supporting her family through the loss of a loved one, and we were hoping this year would be a new beginning for us. We had just finished paying off our 2019 Nissan Rogue Sport, which was a huge relief for our budget and gave us hope to save for our wedding and first home. Now, those plans are on hold as we try to recover from this setback.

The tools that were stolen are essential for my work, and without them, I can’t continue in my field unless I make a complete career change. My wallet contained not only my identification and cards, but also hard-earned cash I’d saved for our wedding and business. We’ve always tried to help our families and give back to our community, and now we find ourselves in need of help. We’re turning to GoFundMe in hopes that our story will touch someone’s heart.
