Our lives changed overnight when a standpipe burst in our apartment, flooding every room. The water destroyed nearly everything that touched the floor—furniture, clothing, and so many of the things we use every day. While our bed was spared, mold quickly set in and ruined almost everything else we owned. To make matters even more difficult, at the time of the incident, we did not have renters insurance. It’s been overwhelming to see so much of what we built together disappear so suddenly.

We’re grateful that Tena, our dogs Ryder and Jackson, and I are all safe. But starting over is daunting. The funds we raise will help us replace essential furniture, buy new clothes, and refill our pantry, since all our food was lost when the electricity was turned off. Every bit of support will help us rebuild our home and regain a sense of normalcy.
