I never thought I would be in a position to write something like this, but I’m doing it for my kids.
Right now, we are trying to move forward and separate from a situation that involved abuse, criminal behavior, and manipulation. It has turned our lives upside down in a very short amount of time, and because it has become public, it’s been even harder to protect my children from it.
They are doing their best, but they’re hurting. Their routines have changed, their sense of safety has been shaken, and they’re trying to understand things that no child should have to make sense of. As their mom, I’m doing everything I can to keep them grounded, supported, and feeling safe, even on the hard days.
At this point, I’m handling everything on my own. Their father and I are estranged, and he is not providing financial support or helping with their care. That means I’m responsible for keeping a roof over our heads, food on the table, and making sure they have what they need while we go through this.
The need for help is immediate. Over the next several weeks, I am facing legal costs, counseling expenses, and everyday bills all at once, without any additional support.
I’m in the process of hiring a divorce attorney so I can protect my children and move forward the right way. I’m also trying to get counseling for all of us, because we need help working through what we’ve been through. These are things we truly need, but they are happening faster than I can manage alone.
On top of that, there are the everyday realities—mortgage, utilities, groceries, childcare—things that don’t stop, even when life feels like it’s falling apart.
I’m asking for help so I can keep things as stable as possible for my kids while we get through the next few weeks and begin to rebuild.
