Help Us Rebuild After a Devastating Home Flood

Donation protected
Dear friends, colleagues, and kind supporters,

On July 6, our home suffered a devastating flood due to a major water leak in the bathroom. We were not home. We received a call from our nephew about the presence of water. What followed has been an incredibly difficult journey - one that we’re still walking through and one we never imagined needing to share publicly.

The flood damage rendered our home unlivable. The walls and insulation behind them sucked the wat up to two feet. The kitchen cabinets, bedroom furniture, bookshelves, books, appliances, and office desks have been damaged. All doors of the rooms and of the home are damaged beyond repair. The mitigation company set up dehumidifiers and industrial fans that have been running nonstop, making the space hot and suffocating. While my wife and I have stayed behind to protect what we can, our children have had to shuttle between friends’ homes, as we currently have no place to relocate as a family. Our daily lives, stability, and sense of home have been completely upended.

We immediately filed an insurance claim and complied with all their requests—plumbing reports, inspections, photos. But so far, we’ve received no support or resolution. A public adjuster has now stepped in to help fight on our behalf, but even with that, the process could take weeks or months, and there's no guarantee they’ll cover the full damage.

The estimate for repairs is atleast $50,000, and right now, our most urgent need is temporary housing. We’ve been advised to relocate immediately for health and safety reasons, but we simply don’t have the funds to lease a short-term rental while waiting on the insurance company’s decision.

I’ve always worked hard to provide for my family, and until this unexpected disaster, we had just begun to feel a little financial breathing room. Now, all of that has been thrown into uncertainty. If the insurance claim is denied or only partially approved, it will take us years to recover. More importantly, the emotional and financial toll on our children and family could have long-lasting consequences.

We are turning to you - our extended community - for help. Every donation, no matter the size, will help us find a temporary place to live and begin the long road to rebuilding our home and stability.

We are grateful for your support, prayers, and kindness in this truly difficult moment. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page with others. Thank you for standing with us.

With gratitude,
Samee and Family
