Hello Everyone!
I hope this message finds you well. My name is Megan and I am reaching out to share a difficult situation my family and I have been facing and to humbly request your support in our time of need.
Just a few weeks ago, we faced an unexpected and devastating situation when the city sewer pipe backed up into our basement, flooding it with over two feet of contaminated water. The immediate aftermath required us to take swift action, and while the initial shock was overwhelming, we began the arduous process of clearing our moldy drywall and insulation, cleaning and sanitizing, and repairing our basement to the best of our ability. With tremendous effort, we've managed to transform it from a painful memory back into a space that shows promise once again.
However, our journey is far from over. The damage inflicted upon our home has left us in dire need of assistance to complete the restoration process. We are seeking funds to cover crucial expenses that include a new hot water tank, flooring, a washer and dryer, and water mitigation against future flooding.
As the homeowner and a parent of five children ages 12yrs - 2yrs, this unexpected disaster has hit us hard. The basement held multiple roles in our household – from a play area for our children to a storage space for household goods and furniture, as well as a vital food pantry. The flooding forced us to part with cherished belongings, including much needed appliances, which were irreparably damaged. The water mitigation is not just about repairing the present damage, but also about safeguarding our home against potential future flooding.
Here's a breakdown of the costs we're facing:
- Electric hot water tank: $5,500
- Flooring: $2,000
- Repairs and water mitigation: $8,000
- New clothes washer and dryer: $1,500
We understand that times are tough for everyone, and any amount you can contribute would make a world of difference to us. Your support would not only help us cover these essential expenses but also provide a renewed sense of hope and resilience in the face of adversity.
If you're unable to contribute financially at this moment, we completely understand. Your kindness and generosity can still have a significant impact – please consider sharing our story with your family and friends. Spreading the word about our campaign could lead to the assistance we desperately need.
We are truly humbled by this experience, and we are turning to our community for help. Your compassion and consideration mean the world to us. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for any support you're able to provide.
With sincere gratitude,
Kawaguchi Family
