Hello Everyone,

The Abolition Working Group of the Metro DC DSA is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our 3rd Annual Kids Not Cops Backpack Giveaway. Our goal is to raise $8,000 so that we can distribute up to 400 backpacks full of school supplies to needy children.

Last year, we were able to equip over 300 DC kids with backpacks and school supplies. Now, we're trying to expand this program across DC and increase the ability of DC kids to receive the school supplies necessary to succeed at school.

Remember, a backpack is more than something that carries a child's materials for school; they help students stay engaged and informed in class. Let's work together to make sure no child goes without!

We are pleased to be working with our partner Open Door Baptist Church in this endeavor.

Our tentative date backpack giveaway date will be August 15th, 2026 from 10AM to 2PM at 5600 Central Ave SE, Washington, DC 20019.
