Help us reach a diagnosis for Cyrus’ seizures
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Brianna Barker and I am hoping to raise money to be able to afford an MRI for my six month old, special needs kitten. Cyrus came into my life in May from Saving Stevie rescue, and I immediately knew that I could not live without him and his sister, Nova. I adopted them one month later and they are the sweetest kittens ever. Cyrus and Nova have suspected Cerebellar Hypoplasia which is a developmental condition in which the cerebellum of the brain did not develop properly. Due to the cerebellum being responsible for balance, coordination, and motor skills, it has resulted in them being unable to move around like normal cats and to stand/walk.
With that being said, they have no idea anything is different about them and they are the cuddliest, most playful kittens. They love everyone and love to play!!!
Cyrus had an unexpected seizure in the early morning hours of Monday, September 26th. I immediately took him to the vet and we had blood work sent in that day. We were hoping that it was a one time incident, but sadly, Cyrus has continued to have seizures almost every night this week. He has had a blood test, fecal sample test, and urinalysis. Unfortunately, due to his Cerebellar Hypoplasia and other suspected brain abnormalities/malformations, it is likely that these seizures are being caused by a brain condition. The only way for us to reach a diagnosis and to see exactly what is going on in his brain and causing these seizures is an MRI, which can cost anywhere from $2,500-3,000. We have started him on an anti-convulsant medication and hope to see some progress, but without an MRI, it is nearly impossible to know how to best help him stop having them. With this money, I would bring him in for an MRI and we would be able to see exactly what’s happening in his brain, resulting in us being able to develop a plan for treatment.
I would be eternally grateful for any donations &/or shares!
