In too many classrooms, whether in the rural villages of Ghana or underserved neighbourhoods across Canada, students show up eager to learn but empty-handed. No backpack, No notebooks, No pencils. Just dreams and determination.

At The Shidaa Foundation, we believe education should never be a privilege, it’s a right. That’s why we’ve launched Operation Backpack 2025, our bold campaign to provide 10,000 fully stocked school backpacks to students who need them the most.

Why This Matters

Education changes lives. But for far too many children, the absence of basic school supplies is the first barrier they face.

In Ghana, over 1 in 4 children do not have access to adequate learning materials, according to UNICEF. Many share textbooks or write on scraps of paper, making learning frustrating and incomplete.

In Canada, particularly among low-income and immigrant communities, thousands of students start the school year without proper supplies. This gap silently affects their confidence, performance, and long-term potential.
