Help Us Raise Money For River's Medical Bills

Hello, I have created this to help raise money to pay for our daughter's medical bills.

My wife and I have recently welcomed a beautiful baby girl into our life. Her name is River Rose Ivey. She was born at a low 4 lbs 1 oz, about 3-1/2 weeks early. River needed to stay in the NICU for two weeks because she could not eat enough food on her own. She had a feeding tube to help her get all the nutrients she couldn't get when we attempted to feed her by the bottle. My wife and I traveled to the hospital several times a day to be there with River and help take care of her, hoping that every time we went, we would be able to take her home. After those two weeks, we were so happy to be able to bring her home and formally become the family we had so eagerly waited to become.

Then, the bill came totaling $63,000. This total was after my insurance had looked over the claim. They would not cover almost anything except just over $1,000 because the hospital and providers caring for River were not in-network. I had gotten coverage under a new insurance seven days before River was born and had no time to research providers. On top of that, my wife needed to go into labor early due to preeclampsia. Preeclampsia can cause severe complications for both Mother and Child during the pregnancy, and we needed to go into labor early before any risk became greater.

My wife and I are both still young, 21 and 25, respectively. This bill has caused nothing but stress and anxiety for both of us. We don't even make $63,000 combined in a year, let alone be able to pay a bill of this magnitude without assistance. It feels like we are being penalized for seeking to grow our family.
