Hi, My name is Amelia. I am raising funds for the Maitland Oncology Unit.

Late last year my mum, Trish, had started her treatment journey as she was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast Cancer. In a conversation with mum I asked her if she could donate to any charity what would it be, Mum came up with some great charities but then asked if she could sit on it and think about it some more before deciding.

With that she asked why, It was a quick response from me and I said I would like to shave my head to raise money for a charity of her choice. Mum was slightly shocked and in disbelief that I would actually shave my head. Within a couple of days of pondering on which charity she would like the funds to go to Mum settled on the Oncology unit at Maitland Hospital.

Join us on June 2nd 2024 to watch Mum shave my hair off. We know that funds can be a little tight for families, we are hoping to raise as much money for the Oncology unit to assist them with the maintenance and upkeep of their new cooling caps for patients on their chemo journey. This was something that the Oncology unit put in after Mum had her chemo rounds so unfortunately Mum lost her hair, she is hoping that people facing their cancer journey can be as comfortable as they can while they are at Maitland hospital.

This cause is extremely close to our hearts with too many family members going through treatment, overcoming breast cancer and unfortunately loosing their lives due to this particular cancer.
