Hey Crew,
If you follow me on social media, you know that last week, our boat, Loki, was nearly hit by Beryl, the unprecedented hurricane that just devastated the south-east islands of the Caribbean.
We are fine. Thanks to the brave actions of my partner Trev, who flew back to Grenada from California with less than 12 hours to secure our boat before the hurricane hit (and thanks to some sheer luck in being out of the direct path of the storm) we sustained very little damage.
We are incredibly grateful not to have faced the worst of this, and are now starting to think about our neighbors on Carriacou, a small island to the north of us, who bore the brunt of this disaster.
We're in the unique position of being able to help, because we are "on the ground" here: we live at the harbor where shipments of desperately-needed donations are being ferried daily to Carriacou. So we've set up a GoFundMe to raise money for donations.
100% of the money we raise will be used by Trev and I to buy goods to donate. Things like canned food, dry food, medicine, tarps, generators, animal food, baby formula, diapers, toiletries, feminine hygiene products, etc. We will load these items onto a boat here at the harbor, and they will be shipped directly to Carriacou, which is only 30 miles away.
Trev and I often feel helpless about many of the things happening in the world right now. In this case, we feel like we're in a unique position to help people and we want to make the most of our time and resources to do so. We hope you'll join us.
No promotions are offered in exchange for any donations made to our GoFundMe.
