Help Us Raise $1,500 to Keep Our Home

We’re asking our friends, neighbours, and community for help keeping a roof over our heads.
Our rent is $2,300 and is due September 1. We can cover part of it, but right now we are approximately $1,500 short. We have asked our housing provider, Fred Victor (who identify as "leader in ending homelessness in Toronto), for some flexibility to pay the balance late, but we have been told that if the full rent is not paid by the 1st, they intend to move forward with eviction.
That leaves us with only a few days to close the gap.
What makes this especially difficult is that we are still trying to be contributing members of the community we live in. This Friday, just days before the rent deadline, I have been asked to volunteer my time cooking at our community BBQ, while Nikkole has been asked to volunteer as a performer and provide music for the event.
Fred Victor describes its mission in terms of helping people find “place and purpose.” Right now, what we desperately need is a little help holding onto our place.
We are not asking for the entire rent. We are trying to raise approximately $1,500 to cover the amount we are short and get September’s rent paid in full before the deadline.
If you can contribute even $5, $10, or $20, it gets us closer. If you aren’t in a position to donate, sharing this fundraiser with friends or neighbours would also mean a great deal to us.
Our goal: $1,500
Deadline: September 1
Purpose: September rent and preventing the loss of our housing
We’re doing everything we can to get through a difficult time. We’re asking our community to help us bridge this one immediate gap so that a temporary shortage doesn’t cost us our home.
Thank you for helping, donating, or sharing.
