My name is Joanne, and I’m Dan’s sister.
I started this fundraiser to support him through this incredibly difficult time. It’s been very hard seeing him go through this, and I don’t want him worrying about bills while he’s trying to focus on his health.
Dan has always been there for others — now I just want to be there for him.
For many, he’s known as Dan the Postman or Dan the Groceryman — a familiar face who has spent over 30 years serving this community through Canada Post and Foodland( now retired). But to those who truly know him, Dan is so much more than his jobs.
He’s the one who shows up without being asked. The one who helps quietly, without expecting anything in return. The one who always puts others first.
Right now, Dan is facing one of the hardest battles of his life.
He has been diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer and will need to step away from work for at least 3 months to undergo treatment and begin his recovery. For someone as hardworking and independent as Dan, this alone is incredibly difficult.
But what makes it even harder is that he does not qualify for short- or long-term disability benefits, as much of his income comes from contract cleaning work.
That means while he’s fighting cancer, he’s also facing the stress of how to pay for everyday living expenses — and how to afford the constant travel back and forth to London for medical appointments.
This is where we can step in.
We are hoping to raise $10,000 to help cover Dan’s essential expenses and transportation costs during this time, so he can focus on what truly matters: healing, resting, and getting through this.
Dan has spent his life helping others. Now it’s our turn to show up for him.
If you’re able to donate, no matter the amount, it will make a meaningful difference. And if you can’t donate, sharing this fundraiser could help us reach someone who can.
Let’s surround Dan with the same care and kindness he has given so many.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. ❤️
