Hello, my name is Emma Figueroa and I am a senior at Corona Del Mar High School. Theatre has always been a huge part of my life, technical theatre specifically, and I am very passionate about theatre being accessible to everyone, including the youngest members of our high school community. That’s why, for my senior project, I am directing my own show with a cast composed entirely of freshman! This show, The Importance of Being Earnest, is a hilarious comedy of manners, written in 1894. I chose this show not only for its humor, but also for the fact that it is in the public domain, meaning it is entirely free to perform. I hope to inspire the future generations of classes to put on their own shows; to believe in themselves. While the cost of putting on the show is free, I still need to provide costumes, construct props, and build a set for my actors to perform in. Anything you can give helps!
It’s been such an honor so far working with my amazing cast and crew:
Arlo Rodriguez (Jack), Austen Dang (Algernon), Lylah Longoria (Cecily), Catalina Martin (Gwendolyn), Kira Tabakin (Lane/Chausable), Kate Tohme (Martha), Vanessa Schmit (Prism), Jane Cohen (Bracknell), Jade Fiorto (Stage Crew), Liliana Kuhn (Stage Crew), Caitlyn White (Stage Crew), Patrick Tate (Stage Crew), Nick Lopez (Technical Director), and Sloan Kelly (Assistant Director/Props Master).
Here’s to an amazing show!
