Help Us Put Daddy's Little Monsters Into Every Cancer Centre, Hospital and Maggie's Centre

When I was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 melanoma, one of the hardest parts wasn't facing my own illness, it was finding the right words to help our three young daughters understand what was happening.

Like so many parents, we searched for a book that could help explain serious illness to young children in a gentle, reassuring and age-appropriate way. We struggled to find one.

Then something extraordinary happened.

Our six-year-old daughter, Isabella, decided to write one herself.

Daddy's Little Monsters wasn't written by adults or professionals. It was written by a little girl, from a child's perspective, to help other children who may be experiencing the fear, confusion and uncertainty of having a parent or loved one who is seriously ill.

One of the most special things about the book is that it never actually uses the word "cancer". Instead, it gently opens the door to difficult conversations, helping families talk about love, change, hope and emotions in a way that children can understand.

What began as a way of helping our own family has become something much bigger.

Our dream is to place a copy of Daddy's Little Monsters into every cancer treatment centre, oncology ward, children's ward, hospice and Maggie's Centre across the UK, so that any family facing these difficult conversations has access to it free of charge.

Every donation will go towards:

Printing copies of the book.

Distributing books to hospitals, cancer centres and Maggie's Centres.

Expanding the project so it reaches as many families as possible.

Creating additional resources to support children facing serious illness.

This isn't just about a book.

It's about making sure no child feels alone.

It's about giving parents the words when they don't know what to say.

It's about turning one little girl's kindness into something that can bring comfort to thousands of families.
