HELP US PUT A STOP TO ASBESTOS RELATED DISEASES!

My name is Jason Ravasini, I am the co-inventor of a medical breakthrough that has the potential to help the many thousands of people who are not only suffering from asbestos related disease, but also those who have had asbestos exposure.
To give you some background, 22 years ago I was a motor mechanic operating my own workshop, I had just become a father for the first time, a few years later my little boy was diagnosed with a severe form of autism.
His diagnosis started me off on a journey of medical discovery where I developed a passion for investigating not only autism but other types of incurable conditions. As part of my research, I made a surprising discovery involving asbestos, but as I was only a motor mechanic what could I do about it?
This problem became an obsession and before long I decided to close my workshop to study Medical Science at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). That’s where I met Associate Professor Anthony George, someone who shared my passion for new medical discoveries and a true man of science. We soon decided to join forces to explore my discovery in far more detail and it was not very long before Dr George was heading up a major research project to investigate the novel idea. As the research progressed it started to produce some very exciting results which exceeded everyone’s expectations. We now enjoy several peer reviewed medical journal publications and full patents in Europe, Australia, and the USA.
We now need to undertake a phase of the project that will take us to human clinical trials.
We have, up until now, had sporadic and uncertain funding and there have been times, including now, where we personally have had to provide funds just to keep the project alive.
We are now at a point in time where we can no longer do this on our own, and we run the real risk of losing 17 years of hard work if the project comes to a halt through lack of funding.
Although we have had many setbacks getting to this stage, we are not defeated. We are not a large medical company we are simply two individuals with a passion who have carried this important project further than anyone could have imagined. Moving forward we have a clearly defined path ahead that has been carefully costed, with well-defined checkpoints and goals.
Below are a list of key discoveries that stem from our published mouse model study and patent claims.
- The compound helps to moderate the cytokine storm which stops the immune system going crazy and harming the cells of the body, like what happens in auto-immune diseases.
- Moderates free radical damage by helping to prevent asbestos fibre damage to lung cells.
- Macrophages capture and remove asbestos fibres from tissues and organs, like little garbage trucks driving around picking up the asbestos fibres and taking them out of the body. In asbestos treated mice, the tissues have very low macrophage populations but with the compound (plus asbestos) macrophage numbers return to near normal.
- First compound to show promising results for a disease that responds poorly to current cancer treatments.
- The compound has the potential to be used for treating patients with asbestos related diseases (asbestosis and mesothelioma) and as a preventative for people who have be exposed to asbestos that have not yet shown symptoms of the diseases.
- The compound may be used in different delivery modes, that is, by direct intubation or injection at the site of tumours, or by respiratory nebulisers and puffers.
We have reached out to pharmaceutical companies, thinking that surely, they would want this fantastic breakthrough, and I have personally organised several meetings with some of the largest pharmaceutical companies on the planet, however to my disbelief I was told that “we cannot make a profit from such a small number of people who suffer from one of these diseases each year. Pretty sad I know, but unfortunately, they are in business to make money for their shareholders.
So, if you can’t make money from something and society really needs it then you would think it would be the responsibility of the government, so we reached out to them only to be told that we already fund this type of research and to just keep applying for the same old research grants that we apply for every year and never receive.
We have also reached out to private enterprise, charities, and anyone else that will listen with the same response.
It is our hope that we will be able to provide the answers to help the unfortunate sufferers of these horrific asbestos related diseases.
We hope to be trialling our treatment in a hospital within the next two years, but this will only be possible with funding. Each day we must put our important project on hold because of a lack of funding, which unfortunately is a day late for someone suffering from an asbestos related disease right now.
All of our funding to date has come from generous kind-hearted people so I know that people power can deliver this project to the people who desperately need it.
We would really appreciate it if you were able to donate to us today, so that we can provide hope for a disease that currently responds poorly to conventional cancer treatments and gives hope to sufferers.
All donations will go directly to our research.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Kindest Regards
Jason Ravasini
