Help - Air Purification for Quintilian School

Help us Get Ready for Back to School

Quintilian School is excited to welcome our students back to school on Sept 7, 2021, for in-person learning after the many Covid-19 disruptions to learning.

We are a small (less than 40 students) alternative, school in Kingston, Ontario focused on students living with differences such as Autism, ADHD, Anxiety, learning disabilities and other learning challenges/gifts, where attendance in a public-school classroom did not work or did not provide sufficient flexibility.

At Quintilian School, our students receive individualized attention suited to their strengths. We focus on the whole child and in addition to the Ontario school curriculum, special attention is made to building social and friendship skills and exploring personal learning interests.

Quintilian does not receive any provincial funding. We operate on a shoe-string budget so we can keep our tuition fees as low as possible for families who often already incur therapy and other special costs.

The health and safety guidelines for in-person learning on ventilation and air quality, while not mandatory for a school like Quintilian, are critical for us to keep our children safe during the pandemic. We rent our space in a historic limestone building.

Quintilian School has purchased an air purification system for each of its classrooms. Quintilian was able to purchase the same units that Limestone District School Board will have in classrooms without mechanical ventilation. The new air purification units will arrive and be ready for Sept 7, 2021, at Quintilian.

A decision was made not to increase tuition fees to cover this additional expense. 2020 and 2021 have been financially challenging for the school and some of our families. There is no capital reserve that could be used to cover the expense of the air purification systems.

We are appealing to members of our Quintilian School community and the broader community to help us raise $12,000 to cover the costs of this equipment and the replacement HEPA filters and the UV bulbs for the 2021-2022 academic year.

We have started a GoFundMe appeal today. Please donate what you can and share this appeal.

This video introduces the units purchased for each classroom.
