Help us publish Jan Sieber's posthumous book

We are friends and colleagues of the art and culture theorist Jan Sieber (1982-2018). We would like to raise money to publish our friend's unfinished Ph.D. on Immanuel Kant and Jacques Lacan in form of a book, titled "Ästhetik des Realen," with the "Subjektile" book series at Turia & Kant publishing house. We are very delighted that our late friend's book has been accepted to the book series; as the book's editors, we are now raising money to print it. Please support us and Jan's friends and family to honor his memory by publishing his last major work.

Jan Siebers Studie legt überzeugend dar, dass sich in den Aporien der ästhetischen Theorie Immanuel Kants eine Ästhetik des Realen nach Jacques Lacan ankündigt. Der ambivalente Geniebegriff aus Kants Kritik der Urteilskraft trägt die Spannung zwischen Symbolischem und Realem ohne subjektive Auflösung aus und weist darin auf einen neuen Objektbegriff des Kunstwerks, der erst in Lacans Theorie vom Objekt a (un)fassbar geworden ist. Als grundloser Akt erzeugt Kunst nicht nur interesseloses Wohlgefallen, sondern markiert eine Lücke – eine Inkonsistenz, an der sich Subjektivität erst konstituiert.
