Help us provide the quality care Kris deserves

Hi there! My name is Kara, and I have started this Gofundme in order to provide the quality care and life that my adult disabled sister, Kristina, deserves!

A new director took over my sister's group home area, and it has gotten really bad ever since! The man does not care about the disabled people he is supposed to care for and provide quality services. He has driven all of the staff out (not an exaggeration) to the point where there are individuals stuck at the Day Habilitation center until 11 pm without taking their meds or eating dinner. This happened to my sister a couple of times before I arranged to pick her up every Friday-Sunday. Unfortunately, that solution only worked for a few weeks before the rest of the staff quit, and my sister was stuck at the center on a Tuesday. That was last week- she has not been back since. And every single day since we brought her home, I have gotten an email or text saying the other individuals were stuck until 11 pm again, left alone, sleeping on the floor, soiling themselves, and more! The director is nowhere to be seen! He does not respond to any of my emails and ignores other family members along with his own staff!

I don't regret for a second bringing my sister home because I know she is safer here now. However, both my mother and I work full-time jobs and also no longer have any paid time-off left. I have been contacting lawyers, advocates, other group homes, the local authority, and even Medicaid but the services provided are slim to none. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place. We have to pay our bills but we CANNOT send her back to that environment. She will collect SSI once we officially pull her out of the group home, but that can take 2-3 months to kick in. We have no other family here in Texas or even within 10 hours from us! Every little bit will help.

If you know Kristina you know the girl can EAT. She was recently diagnosed with high cholestoral so we need to change her diet as well! We will need to find transportation help for appointments and for the Dayhab. I am hoping to find a Dayhab that accept her Medicaid so we don't have to worry about paying for that. That process could take a while as well so being able to private pay for her to begin Dayhab immediately would be ideal for everyone! I would like my sister to endure the least amount of emotional stress as possible. She has already been put through the ringer with the circumstances leading up to us pulling her out. She was so happy at this group home for a little while- it absolutely breaks my heart that this is happening to her again! Please help us provide her a better life!
