Help With My Service Dog Hale's Life Saving Surgery
Donation protected
UPDATE 2: Unfortunately Hale is back in the ER. He developed a leak from the first surgery from his intestines into his abdomen and was going into shock when I woke up Friday morning. I caught it early, but we are facing a second bill, this time $17,000. I haven't added this to the goal right now.
He has come out of surgery well, but we won't know the outcome for at least a week or two, when he would be safe from this happening again.
UPDATE: Hale is home from hospital and beginning his road to recovery. He's very skinny, and very tired, but hopefully he can rest better at home and will start to perk up soon.
Hale is my five-month-old Shiloh Shepherd, and he was unexpectedly admitted to the hospital Sunday evening with severe GI bleeding. He is having emergency surgery for an intussusception, which is when the intestines telescope into themselves to varying degrees of severity. His case is life-threatening, and he will need part of his bowel resected.
Hale came into my life after I lost my Shiloh, Summer, at the end of March. By happenstance, it turns out he's her grand-nephew, and just as wonderful.
Summer was my service dog, and Hale is trying to fill her pawprints (even if his feet are much bigger in real life, it's not an easy task). He is very much a natural and is already trained in his main task.
All of this happened while I was researching pet insurance because we had just gotten him.
I have been trying to make up some of the funds through commissions, and if interested, I would much rather provide something than just accept donations.
My art can be seen at http://art.anachronicautumn.org, or https://www.deviantart.com/anachronicautumn, and I am always happy to discuss selling existing prints or doing commissions (digital formats that will allow you to have it printed in as many ways as you would like, up to approximately a 5-6 foot (long side) canvas or poster).
Because of the emergent nature of this surgery, and the stay at the hospital, the bills are through the roof.
No blockage has been found, no foreign bodies. The current theory is severe food sensitivity, or, unfortunately, that it's just one of those puppy things.
Words cannot express how grateful we would be for any help. Because of the gravity of the expenses, I am including some photos of the bills, which I will update as they move from deposits to final charges, and as I find all my receipts (currently two have been left out as they're at another house).
Any donations exceeding the final total will be refunded proportionately.
And please know, again, I would much rather sell my art or make something for you, so feel free to contact me about that.
