Help us provide for our behind the scene hero!

Hi my name is Kathy Simard That's me in the photo because unfortunately I do not have a recent picture of my friend. I'm desperately trying to raise funds for a friend and coworker.

 Her name is Lana. She has been the day custodian at École Victor Brodeur since at least 2009 when I started to work there. Yesterday, December 6th, after her usual days work and saying good luck to me for an upcoming personal meeting I had, she headed back home on foot.  Unfortunately, while crossing the street she was struck by a vehicle and both of her legs were broken. For now that is the extent of the information I have. I know that Lana is dearly loved and appreciated at the school. It isn't an easy job and she does it with a smile every single day. I teach a grade one class there and every day she comes by to do the usual wiping of the door frame. My students always stopped whatever they were doing and said "Thank you Lana, Merci Lana" she laughed and replied " De rien les enfants". I can't imagine what she's going through right now and the pain that she must be in. She lost her only daughter just a few years ago and it was very difficult for her.

 I'm not sure about her job benefits or any of these things, but I know that this is going to be a very difficult year for her. I want to help her in any way I can and  right now the only thing I can do is set up this fund. Maybe by doing this I can ease her mind and help her focus on getting better and not have to worry on any financial needs. Later, I hope to be there as much as I can when she needs me, because she has been there for me. She has the best listening ear I've ever had and shared the best stories with me. 

 In these difficult economic times due to COVID and just before Christmas, I believe it is the worst thing that could ever happen. No one deserves this, especially not her.
