Unknown Possibilities
In October 2016, 6 months after the birth of our second son Shekhar, Chris and I found ourselves sitting in front of six medical professionals. The neurologist and geneticist proceeded to show us an MRI of Shekhar’s brain, revealing that the two sides of his brain were fused. When we asked, what does this mean? They simply responded, we don’t know.
We left that room entering into a journey of the unknown. Our journey led us to Anat Baniel Method Neuromovement, a method that gave hope to the unknown. It shifted our thinking to look at the possibilities, not the limitations.
Through our experience with Anat Baniel, we met the famed Neuroanatomist, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. She looked at Shekhar’s MRI with this lens of possibility. She wondered at what this fusion could mean in how he sees the world and the insight only he could have because of this.
Our journey is no longer just about the unknown. It is about the unknown possibilities. This is the inspiration for the story we want to share - Supernormal. It is a narrative science fiction tale that will star Shekhar and his brother Adi, joined by the artist, Lourdes Hernández (aka Russian Red ) as co-star. Our long-time Wilcox Sessions collaborator, Bryant Jansen , will be our Director of Photography.
We are planing to shoot in late March, but to truly tell our story aligned with Chris’ creative vision, we are looking to our community for support. Our hope is that this film is not just about sharing our challenging story in a fun and hopeful way, but to also inspire more stories about the possibilities, not the limitations, when it comes to people who are different than the normal - the Supernormal!
Any amount you can donate will help us in this effort. Thank you for helping us bring this vision to life.
