About SUN
The team behind “Sun” is selected as a top finalist for the upcoming 19th Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon (MAMM), an annual 10-day filmmaking competition happening between July 19 – July 28, 2024, organized by the Vancouver Asian Film Festival (VAFF). Where the team starts filming and methodically completes post-production all within that week. The film will be screening at the MAMM19 Gala Screening & Awards Presentation on August 31, 2024 in front of an audience of 600+ people.
“Sun” is a coming-of-age drama (with a dash of surrealism) where a Chinese-Canadian girl and her single father navigate their complicated relationship by revisiting a cherished Chinese folklore.
Through this film, we hope to spark discussions about the difficult topics of divorce, separation, and the cultural stigmatization within Asian communities that often accompanies them.
As this film will showcase surreal images and scenes that will accompany the wonderment of the folklore, the team is confident in bringing this to life by utilizing their commercial experience involving large-scale VFX.
With an all-Asian lead cast and crew, we seek the support of our community to help this film reach its full potential by covering essential expenses and partnering with VAFF’s mission to create additional opportunities in this industry.
