In early October, a few days before writing this message, the first phase of a ceasefire was just signed into effect in the Gaza Strip. If things go according to plan, the boarder between Egypt and Gaza should be operational in the next few months. This will lead into a massive migration between the two countries. Many of those who have been in Egypt the past two years are yearning to return home and rebuild. But, just as many in Gaza are tired, beat down, and require medical attention not available anymore in their home country. This will lead to thousands of new Gazans in Egypt requiring relief, medical, and psychological assistance.
As if with divine timing, Denizens Society has recently received approval from the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt to implement a one-year family relief project in Cairo. This project will act as first-aid to these families covering rental relief, food vouchers, hygiene kits, psychological sessions, fun days for kids, and group empowerment sessions for adults. The project is set to begin in the next couple months and we would love to be able to expand the capacity of this project to include as many of these incoming families as possible.
With additional funds, we can expand our work in Cairo and do our best to address the needs of these traumatized people. If you are interested in learning more about this project, please read here: https://denizenssociety.org/pages/family-support-program.
Additionally, Denizens is a registered 501(c)(3) in the USA. If you need a tax receipt for your donation, please reach out via our website.
