Help us play our first ever international match
The Marshall Islands is the last country without an international football team…until Now!! Please help us play our first ever match in August 2025.
For too long, our small, proud and sometimes forgotten Pacific nation has been the only country on earth that has remained absent from the global soccer community.
We've been working extremely hard to make this event a reality - we've booked our flights, we've booked the practice & match facilities, but now we need a little helping hand with the final costs - booking the accommodation and catering for all of the teams, and the coach travel required to get to the venue each day.
Accommodation will cost £25,000, coach travel is £10,000, and catering is £10,000 - so we're looking for a little support to allow us to finalise our bookings.
This monumental undertaking is being managed by a group of volunteers based in the UK, US, and the Marshall Islands. They are working day and night organising not only the Marshall Islands 1st match - but an entire tournament.
We previously shared this video, when we first announced the matches...
History of football in the Marshall Islands
Historically, there has been no funding or recognition for the world's favourite sport in the Marshall Islands. This has meant no pitches, equipment, coaches, referees and, most importantly of all, very few footballers even kicking a soccer ball. For the past few years, we have done everything in our power to change this. And, in 2025, we want to write the Marshall Islands name in the history books!
With your help, we will make history by hosting our first-ever international soccer match in August 2025. This will mark the beginning of something truly incredible: the road to official recognition for Marshall Islands Soccer, international competition with our friends in other nations, and finally the opportunity to give our youth a pathway in the beautiful game.
Why This Matters
Football is more than just a game—it’s an opportunity to be part of something much bigger and more beautiful. It inspires children to dream and live healthier lives, brings whole communities closer together, and unites billions from every corner of the world in their passion for the game.
For the Marshall Islands, soccer represents hope and a big step forward towards greater global inclusion. With the world watching, we want to prove that no nation is too small or too far away to fully deserve its place in the international soccer family.
We began our long epic journey to bring soccer to the Marshall Islands in 2020. And over the past 5 years we have worked tirelessly in the development of soccer in the Marshall Islands, from bringing much needed equipment to the islands to soccer being played in schools for the first time. We are now applying to join regional confederations - the next step on our path to joining FIFA and, ultimately, competing in World Cup Qualifying matches.
Five years into our journey, we now have our first national team squad: a collection of young men from across the Marshall Islands archipelago as well as the best talent of the Marshallese community living overseas. They are all dreaming of putting on our beautiful national team jersey and of representing the Marshall Islands for the very first time. The proud people of the Marshall Islands also wait in eager anticipation of seeing their nation finally represented on the global stage.
But none of this will be possible without your support! Until we are granted the membership of a confederation we so dream of, we will continue to receive no external funding for everything we do.
As you will appreciate, hosting an international match is no small feat. We must fund travel, accommodation, meals, transportation, playing kits, venue setup, and all the logistics needed to put on a world-class event. Every dollar raised will go directly toward making this historic match a reality.
We believe a first international football match will not only finally put the Marshall Islands on the global football map…it will also demonstrate our ability to host international fixtures and show the world that we deserve to be accepted as an international soccer country!
Let’s Make A Statement!
Okay, so we could just host a single opponent - that would be difficult enough. But we want to make an unforgettable statement of intent to mark our arrival onto the international stage. That’s why we’ve invited established FIFA members to join us and compete in the Outrigger Cup - the world's newest international football tournament!
We are delighted to announce that Turks & Caicos, the US Virgin Islands, and Ozark United U19's will join us in Arkansas, the United States of America, between the 11th and 17th August 2025 to compete in an exciting 4-team international soccer tournament.
What Is The Outrigger Cup?
The Outrigger Canoe is an indigenous boat that has been essential to Marshallese life for thousands of years. Used as a crucial means of transport, the Outrigger Canoe has connected people for millennia. In 2025, the Outrigger is a metaphor for how sport is connecting people around the world.
The inaugural Outrigger Cup was a futsal tournament hosted by the Marshall Islands in 2024. Our guests from Kiribati were the first proud champions of this brand new international cup tournament.
This year our friends from the Turks & Caicos and the US Virgin Islands, plus the newly formed USL team Ozark United U19's have graciously accepted our invitation to join us in the United States and compete for the inaugural 11 aside Outrigger Cup.
Join Us on This Historic Journey
This story is about much more than soccer. It is the opportunity for a nation to finally take the place it deserves on the world stage.
This is about showing that dreams—no matter how seemingly impossible they are—can be achieved with passion, belief, hard work, determination, and a little help from our friends all around the world.
The Marshall Islands may be the last nation without a team, but with your much appreciated support, that will soon change. Let’s make history together!
Event Information
The 2025 Outrigger Cup is taking place in Springdale, Arkansas, United States.
Why? Springdale is home to the largest Marshallese community outside of the islands.
Additionally, playing the Outrigger Cup in the USA also significantly reduces the travel costs of our guests from Turks and Caicos, Guam, and the US Virgin Islands.
There will be a total of 4 fixtures, played at the Jarrell Williams Bulldogs Stadium, Springdale High School, Arkansas.
