Help Us Plant Yéyé’s Second Harvest
Restoring a community water access, investing in agriculture, and strengthening local autonomy in Anse d’Hainault.
I’m raising funds for a community-led agricultural initiative in Anse d’Hainault, Haiti. This work centers on agricultural sustainability, environmental justice, and strengthening long-term community autonomy.
For 16 summers, Anse d’Hainault was the place that reminded me who I was. It was where my creativity expanded, where community felt tangible, and where I learned that even after difficult seasons, life continues to regenerate.
My grandmother turns 99 this year, and a part of this journey is deeply tied to her legacy. Long before people used terms like “community care” or “third spaces,” her home was exactly that. People gathered there for coffee, conversation, reflection, and connection before continuing on with their day. She created a place where people felt held.
This initiative is, in many ways, an extension of that spirit.
The land is fertile. The vision is clear. The community already holds knowledge, skill, labor, and possibility. What we need now is the infrastructure and support to expand access and move the work forward.
The funds raised will support:
* Land reassessment and legal updates (“raffraichissement lizyè”)
* Soil and tree diagnostic evaluations
* Community agricultural training and task force development
* Irrigation, seeds, and equipment
* Preparing the land for the first seasonal crops
* Paying local workers fairly
Our vision is long-term.
In the first year, we hope to begin distributing small batches and restore community water pumps in Mandou. In the years ahead, we envision cacao and coffee export, environmental reinforcement to help protect the roads from ocean erosion, and the creation of 250 sustainable toilets within the community.
If this vision resonates with you, I’m asking you to support by:
* Donating to the fundraiser
* Sharing this post or the campaign link
* Connecting us with aligned organizations or supporters
Every contribution, share, and connection helps move this work forward.
Thank you for helping us plant this first harvest.
