Hello and welcome to the fundraiser for our friend Derek Richardson.

Over the last few months, we have been brainstorming the best way to honor and remember Derek. We are excited to share that after discussing and planning with the Illinois Prairie Path, we are approved for a June 2026 bench. The bench will be placed on the Prairie Path near the intersection of Orchard and Plamondon Road.

Throughout our childhood and as young adults, our group of friends made dozens if not hundreds of trips on the Prairie Path. These included walking to Derek's house from school, walking to the gas station on Roosevelt for candy and drinks, filming videos, and riding our bikes.

Along with these memories the Prairie Path offers a scenic and pleasant space for anyone to visit with Derek. We would encourage anyone to come place flowers, take a break from exercising, or just hang out at the bench.

The bench will include a message that we are still finalizing.

The total cost of the bench is $2300. Anything you can give will be appreciated as we are keeping this fundraiser between close friends and family.

Thank you very much!
