My wife and I are a disabled couple who rely on our car to get to frequent medical appointments, some of which are over 250 miles round trip. Recently, our car broke down and needed urgent repairs to make it safe to drive again. We had no choice but to get the repairs done quickly, as missing appointments isn’t an option for us. The cost for the repairs was far more than we could afford on our fixed disability income.

To cover the cost, we applied for a loan through the auto repair shop. After signing, we discovered it was a predatory loan with payments we simply can’t afford. If we can pay off the loan within 100 days, we can avoid interest and extra fees, but coming up with the money in such a short time is impossible for us alone. Every day that passes adds to our stress and worry.
