As some may know, our mom has been in the Intensive Care Unit since November fighting for her life. Doctors are unsure of the official underlying condition, but her body is very, very weak. She has been on a ventilator through a tracheostomy for several weeks as well as numerous infections and blood pressure issues. They have done numerous tests, biopsies, antibiotics, and other treatments but are still finding answers. Friday evening, they discovered a cardiac tamponade and was rushed to the Cardiac Cath lab where 850 ml of fluid was drained from around her heart. The doctors have reason to believe she has a hole in her heart because of the continuous fluid she is still draining. We as a family have decided to keep her on comfort measures for now because open heart surgery to fix this would be extremely risky in her condition. As of Saturday morning, despite what doctors predicted, she has started to slowly improve. Her blood pressure has started growing stronger little by little, she has become more responsive, and the bleeding around her heart has slowed down quite a bit. We are so thankful for her doctors who are hopeful she can stay stable enough and continue to grow stronger so they can begin a blood plasma treatment and narrow down on a vascular disease. God has not given up on her and she is not done fighting! We as a family are asking for all the prayers and good vibes sent to Renee’. She has been fighting for so long and we are remaining faithful and positive that she can get through this.
