We are Simply Wood Studios . We have been in business for over 12 years selling art and gifts from over 90 Hawaiian artists and crafters.
We have been hit extremely hard because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Especially here in Hawaii where tourism is everything to us. We had three retail stores open in and around the Waikiki area in February. We are now closed with no income as of early March.
This fundraiser will help us pay first and foremost our member artists. Many artists are still waiting for their invoices to be paid. Especially now when things are really desperate for artists and crafters. Because they too have no income from stores, craft fairs, and art shows. We hope this can pay off every artist so they can have some income this month.
We also have to pay for our payroll taxes, insurance, and utilities. Unfortunately we will not get a break from these liabilities. We have tried to negotiate terms or get some relief from our vendors, however nothing but payment deferrals have been given. We don't expect any income to support our liabilities for the next four months. So deferrals will just mean a larger bill comes due in a few months.
I have never really asked for help from anyone before. I have never expected assistance from anyone so this really is difficult for me to do. We need the funds as soon as possible. Our artists need the funds as soon as possible.
I understand that their are many people that are hurting financially and dealing with a huge amount of anxiety right now. I really hate asking for assistance from people like this.
