On October 20, 2021 our stepfather/father Monte accidentally discharged his shotgun resulting in extensive facial injuries. He was found by his son-in-law who called 911 and was taken to Phelps Memorial Hospital in Holdrege,Ne, however, his injuries were too extensive for this small town hospital, they transferred him by LifeFlight to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Ne. Once again this hospital was not equipped to handle his injuries. They however did have to perform CPR to save his life before transferring him to University Medical Hospital in Omaha, Ne again using LifeFlight. Once he was there he had 3 surgeries in the first 24 hours one of which they had to remove his left eye; he will be blind as well because both eyes were severely damaged. He now faces 5 more surgeries to reconstruct his face. The first of which is scheduled for January 20th, this will be a 12 hour surgery. Monte has not undergone 3 surgeries and has at least 3 more to go!
This was a hard decision to reach out and ask for help, however, we have come to the conclusion that will all of the medical bills piling up that our mother cannot afford this on her own. We are reaching out to help reduce the financial stress on both of them.
Our father is still in the hospital and will be for the foreseeable future.
His wife, children, grandchildren, and all family members thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the help.
