My little sister Madison, who is only 11 years old, has recently been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. My parents rushed her to the emergency room on Thursday, January 12th after she had not been eating much and was found unresponsive. She was diagnosed with Diabetic Ketoacidosis and had an extremely high blood sugar of 1900. Blood sugar that high is usually fatal, so we are very lucky to have her still with us. She was transferred to John Sealy Hospital in Galveston where they were able to get her stats back to a more normal range and give her the immediate care she needed. She had many ups and downs throughout the weekend, but on Monday, January 16th, her amazing team of doctors decided to transfer her to Texas Children's Hospital to receive the more intensive care she needed. As Texas Children's Hospital is one of the best hospitals in the nation, we are very fortunate she will be receiving amazing care and are hopeful to have her home soon.

My dad has been working 2 jobs for quite a while now to just keep our family afloat. My mom is a stay-at-home mom who homeschools Madison and helps take care of me and my 3 brothers. I know my parents have a difficult time asking for help but between groceries, Madison's medical bills, and gas to and from the hospital, any donation would be greatly appreciated.
