Hello there,
Jessica is our cat that I (Ellen) found in a ditch near Gravelbourg just over five years ago. From the start, Jess' left eye seemed red and irritated.
** Heads up, gnarly photo below!**

Fast-forward five years - her eyeball started looking weird and fogged over, and the pupil looked like it had fallen back into the eyeball. We took her to the vet and were given a couple of options - pay around $3000 for a *chance* to save her eye by removing the lens or pay around $1000 to get the eyeball completely removed. At that point, we didn't think it would happen to the second eye, and couldn't risk spending $3000, so we opted to get the eye taken out.
She recovered well and we thought we were in the clear, but a few months later the same symptoms began in the second eye. We took her to the vet and the same options were presented.
We decided we had to try to save her remaining eye, so went for the $3000 surgery. We were lucky; it worked! Jessica now has altered vision in her remaining eye, but she can see and we are so grateful!
However, this has left us in debt! After surgery costs, we also had to pay for several check-ups and medication ($1300), making our total $4300. We will be paying for medication for the rest of her life.
Any help is so appreciated - thank you for reading!
