We are raising £19,800 to directly fund the wages of the 9 extraordinary performers bringing SHE/HER to life at The Playground Theatre in London.

Fringe theatre is famous for its raw creativity, but far too often, it relies on unpaid or underpaid artistic labor. We are changing that by ensuring our entire 9-person cast is paid a transparent, flat wage of £550 per week.

To look after 9 actors across a 2-week rehearsal block and a 2-week performance run, we require a baseline of £19,800 in pure salaries alone. Every single penny raised by this campaign goes directly into paying our artists for their time, talent, and dedication.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Created and directed by award-winning artist Nicole Ansari-Cox, SHE/HER is a raw, multimedia collision of spoken-word monologues, original live music, video, and dance. This isn't just theatre; it is a kaleidoscope of truth drawn entirely from the real, lived experiences of the performers themselves. We witness these women in the wonder of life—navigating desire, love, humour, devastation, and the survival of loss and war. After celebrated runs in New York and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, SHE/HER is returning to London with a powerhouse cast that blends returning original members with phenomenal new local talent.

WHY WE NEED YOU
Women’s voices have been systematically erased, minimized, and written out of history for too long. When women tell their stories raw and unfiltered, they reclaim their power.
But powerful storytelling requires sustainable support. Independent theatre is facing a massive funding crisis, and the artists are the ones who bear the financial burden. We refuse to compromise on paying our cast fairly for their labor, emotional vulnerability, and time.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES:
Performer Weekly Wage: £550 per artist
4 Weeks of Work: 2 weeks rehearsal + 2 weeks performance
Total per performer: £2,200
Total for 9 performers: £19,800

By donating, you are directly investing in a diverse, exceptionally talented, international group of 9 women, including:

  • Antoinette Cooper: A Jamaican-born, New York-based poet, writer, and Collective Trauma Facilitator.
  • Bogdana Kalantay: A German-Ukrainian actor and producer known for her international screen and stage work.
  • Jasmine Thien: A proudly disabled, neurodivergent, Southeast Asian Chinese actor, writer, and comedian.
  • Juliet Garricks: A multidisciplinary performer recently seen in the West End and HBO’s Dune: Prophecy.
  • Kate Rigg: A Juilliard graduate, award-winning international comedian, and off-Broadway actor.
  • Michelle Joyner: A veteran American writer, director, and Hollywood screen actor.
  • Sadie Jemmett: A critically acclaimed British composer, singer-songwriter, and theatrical director.
  • Naomi Sorkin: One of America's legendary classical dramatic dancers (American Ballet Theatre) and stage actress.
