Since 1931, Excelsior High School (XLCR) has stood tall as a beacon of opportunity, learning, and legacy in Kingston, Jamaica. Generations of students have walked these grounds, some barefoot, some in uniforms passed down from older siblings, but all filled with hope, dreams, and the will to rise.
I hold dear so many great memories from my time as a student in the 1970's.
Today, I am asking you to help us preserve that legacy by making it safe for students to keep walking in their purpose.
The Problem:
The campus grounds have served students faithfully for nearly a century. But time and weather have taken their toll. The aging pavement has become cracked, uneven, and dangerous, creating real hazards for the very children we’re committed to protecting.
As enrollment grows and our commitment to education deepens and they are in urgent need of re-paving key areas of the school grounds to ensure every student has a safe, secure, and welcoming environment to learn and thrive.
Why This Matters:
Safe, walkable grounds mean fewer injuries and more peace of mind for students, parents, and staff. Teachers and students have injured themselves while walking across the grounds.
And a welcoming environment boosts student pride, confidence, and attendance.
Re-investing in our campus helps preserve the school’s legacy as a cornerstone of education in Kingston for nearly 100 years.
The Goal: $40,000
This amount will cover the cost of re-paving the most high-traffic and critical areas on campus to protect our students and restore dignity to the space they call their second home.
