Hi, we are the VAXI TAXI HEALTH AND WELLBEING POP UPS team!
Our mission is to take healthcare information, services and support outside the GP surgery and hospital walls to the hearts of communities and reach people with barriers to accessing healthcare, including those experiencing crises and deprivation, with a focus on the most vulnerable in our communities, both in the U.K. and abroad.
Since February 2021 we have delivered over 70 Pop Ups across London, with a focus on areas of deprivation and in a range of community settings, including in: asylum seeker centres, homeless shelters, drug and alcohol support centres, foodbanks, community and faith centres, colleges, boxing clubs, local festivals, and high streets.
We have so far collaborated with a range of key stakeholders, including: NHS England, Partnership Southwark, Camden Council, The London Firebrigade, the private The London Clinic, Enfield Health Co-operative and many more.
Our work has been recognised by key stakeholders and U.K. and international media, including the U.K. government, NHS England, the HSJ Awards, the British Journal of General Practice, the Royal College of General Practitioners, the London Mayor’s office, Sky, CNN, the Sunday Times, the New York Post, Channel 5 and numerous others!
Our team has delivered health and wellbeing checks, information and signposting to over 3000 people experiencing barriers to accessing health and allied care, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from our service users.
The Vaxi Taxi Pop Ups have made a profound and far- reaching impact on services users’ health and wellbeing, including supporting people with mental health crises and the detection for the first time of high blood pressure ( which is a risk factor for heart attacks and strokes) in about a third of people accessing the service AND WE NEED YOUR URGENT HELP TO DO MORE!
We want to deliver MORE Vaxi Taxi Pop Ups, provide people with as much support with their health and wellbeing as we can beyond the confines of clinics and hospitals so that everyone can have the care that they need!
HOWEVER, each Pop Up requires funding to cover the considerable costs, including admin, IT, office and insurance costs, advertising, logistics, medical equipment and supplies and more. In view of these mounting costs incurred in delivering UNFUNDED Vaxi Taxi Pop Ups we urgently need £5000 to help cover the costs of each Vaxi Taxi Pop Up.
We are aiming to deliver TEN additional Vaxi Taxi Health and Wellbeing Pop Ups in the forthcoming year.
