When Noura and I moved to Spain in the spring of 2014 we came to serve as missionaries alongside Noura’s parents in Algeria.
In the end though that plan was stopped short when the paperwork our family needed to live there permanently was submitted but left unprocessed.
We continued to serve as full-time missionaries in Spain for several years while raising a family and transitioning towards living a more “normal” life. Eventually, it got to the point where, between work and family life, we didn’t have the time to dedicate ourselves to full-time ministry. That is when we started talking to ANM (our mission organization) about finishing our time with them.
As we got ready to finish our time as full-time missionaries, we also set our sights on establishing our own English school in Spain. However, due to unforeseen complications regarding moving to Galicia, we had to abandon that plan. This left us with few options, and we ended up moving back to Alicante to live in Noura’s parent’s basement while I looked for a new job so that we could move into our own place. That was the summer of 2019 when our youngest child, Samuel, was born.
Next thing we knew the lockdowns started in Spain with the spread of the Coronavirus in the middle of March. My contract at the language academy I was at was terminated and we were left to survive off of my online teaching job for the next 6 months. Once Youssef and Hee Tee (Noura's parents) arrived in Spain they helped us while we looked for possible places we could move to. With some financial help, we ended up moving out right at the beginning of September when I started back at the academy in Alicante (where I had been prior to the quarantine).
We moved to Santa Pola, a small coastal town about 20 minutes from Alicante and less then ten mintues from Noura's parents in Gran Alacant. I have to commute by bus to work in Alicante throughout the week. The trip is about 45-50 minutes and I only have 2-3 hours/day at the academy. Financially speaking, it’s just not working.
Being an English teacher is a decent job but only if I’m able to have “full-time” hours which normally comes to around 25 hours a week. Right now I have around 13/14 hours a week. Our family cannot go on like this and we need a solution.
This brings us to the exciting part.
Noura and I are ready to start our own English school NOW!
We have found an affordable and attractive space for rent in Santa Pola for an English academy. What makes this a great idea is that there aren’t any English schools in the town. Ours would be the only one – there would be no competition. And we’ve already paid the reservation fee for the space!

Now is where you come in.
The owners want us to pay 3 months upfront along with a deposit and realtor fee. Along with that, we need money to get the place ready and furnish the academy and get teaching supplies. We will also need some overhead in order to give us time to establish the school and get everything up and running properly.

Noura and I are in communication with our realtor and will keep you up to date here with all the developments. What we are asking for is people to partner with us in prayer and in giving to help us raise the necessary amount so that we can make this happen!
We have until December 16th to raise the money so we are asking you to help us spread the word with your friends/family/church – anyone who would be glad to help our family in Spain!
The owners of the place think that our idea to start an English school is a really good idea. Noura and I would be able to do it together – we would both teach classes, and the kids could be involved too. In fact, everyone is excited about it - it would be our own little family business!

The goal is to start classes in the new year. This is doable if we do something about it. Once you read this – take action! Say a prayer, share it on social media, email a friend or family member, make a contribution, or reach out to us if you would like more information or you have any questions.
We know that this current situation we’re in now has been disastrous for many families and individuals. We are thankful that our Heavenly Father has kept us going through it all. We're also thankful to my parents and Noura's parents for continuing to support us the whole time. We realize that God can use these difficult circumstances to challenge us to take a step of faith and do something we wouldn’t otherwise do. I believe that this is such an opportunity, and we want to respond properly and step up and trust Him and His will.
Would you consider helping us and our family?
We would be immensely grateful.
Please don't hesitate to contact us directly to connect or to get more information. You can contact Noura and I at [email redacted]. Also it's very easy to message me or call me on WhatsApp. My Spanish number is (+34) 657 868 996. It would be really good to hear from you.
Thank you all so much!
With love and affection,
-Chip & Noura (Julia, Andrew, Samuel)
