Help us not get evicted this Christmas…

Hi, my name is Riza. I have a dog, a coonhound named Agnes. We currently reside in Jacksonville, FL. We had been issued an eviction notice this month for failure to pay our December rent… I had been married for nine years until my ex-husband filed for divorce in February 2020. Court closures due to COVID, as well as my ex-husband’s contract work, delayed the process, that the divorce did not get finalized until February of this year. During those two years I was pursuing my graduate program online. But due to a death in the family, the pressures of graduate school work, losing my health insurance following the divorce, and a whole host of other life stressors, including a traumatic experience this past year, I find myself taking a leave of absence from graduate school and working at a hobby store part time.
I moved out of my ex-husband’s hometown and am renting a one-bedroom apartment here in Jacksonville. I’ve been working hard, healing, recuperating, reflecting. But the stress of potentially losing the roof over our heads is proving right now to be a bit too much. And so I find myself here on GoFundMe asking for strangers’ help and goodwill.
I have exhausted all my resources and energy. I have applied for loans and got denied. I have tried selling my belongings with not much success. I have always been someone to reach a hand or offer my help to people in need, and now, here I am, hoping I am worthy of receiving help from others, just as I had been there for others my whole life.
I thank you all for your precious time. Happy Holidays to you and yours…
