Well time sped up, soon to our new home. Truck reserved!

Our names are Tony (67) and Deni (62), Fundraising to pay for moving costs. Together, trying to get to a life and place that lifts us, be nearer our family and support and take advantage of the opportunities that will give us a positive life to keep us active and living and more so, some place safe .
We have both had, through several unfortunate circumstances, chronic health conditions and life challenging events that effected our financial security. Tony having lost his saving and pension to an unscrupulous business partner and Deni having lost his saving and 401K and house to medical bills and huge medication costs since no insurance company would take an existing life-threatening chronic disease. Consequently, we have found ourselves living in a place that is causing daily stress, depression, and a level of anxiety we should not have to endure or be exposed to at our age and respective health conditions. We are trying but we must, for our physical and mental health, go to somewhere safer.
We have found that place. Our friends and family are there, the level of affordable healthcare we need is there, a place that Tony could have a part-time job and Deni, as an artist, has a gallery wanting to show some of his work. His art being the therapy that helps fight his disability and with hope occasionally help our financial security.
We are both caregivers and care about those around us. Deni has been an end-life caregiver since his 20s, for those who were his friends and partners. 30 losses and 4 partners. Most having been abandoned by family, friends, and the consequences of the healthcare system at the time. Being with all until they found peace. Tony, a retired nurse practitioner and retired Deputy Sheriff and a child counselor and having always been a person there for those in need. Helping run a Women’s shelter for homeless and abused women in Denver. We have continued to do what we do, having taken over care giving for neighbors, two with no family or family who would not come to help or being abused by their caregiver. Cooking, Cleaning, working with the county to provide a permanent caregiver, doctors, stopping a online scammer on one neighbors computer from conning her into sending $500 gift cards to release her computer. She was also on dialysis, but accidentally kept pulling her dialysis shunt-line, coming to our door with blood literally shooting out of her arm, compressing it until paramedics arrived, more than once. In the over 55 apartment community where we currently reside, we help take out trash, sweep walkways management will not clear for them, give rides to doctors and grocery store, and stop by to say “ Hi “ to several who have no one, just to give a smile and make them laugh. Deni, with Tonys assistance, had tried to work with management and held art classes for the seniors and Tony running a gardening club until it faded. Tony even taking the young gardener sodas and cold water during the heat of summer; speaking Spanish with him.
Despite all we have done here and the positive energy we brought to the community and loved by so many here, we have been subject to retaliation, intimidation, verbal abuse, and “emotional terrorism.” Even receiving “anonymous” hate mail. It is killing us. The stress and constant anxiety has affected our health quite noticeably. Both having lost weight and appetite, Deni’s fight with PTSD/Social Anxiety disability, Tony’s heart and kidney issues and our drive just to get up and do anything, let alone just be positive which is both our natural state, with positive attitudes to others. Now having stopped much of what we had been doing for others in our complex to protect ourselves.
Moving to Golden, near our friends, family and so much opportunity will make an incredible positive change to us and our life. To be safe and get our physical and mental health to a level needed for us to survive and enjoy our years.
We are low fixed income now. With the cost of living in California being so high and our Disability and retirement income only just keeping us at a survivable level. Golden, Colorado is cheaper in rent, there the utilities are included, gas is over a dollar a gallon cheaper, our healthcare more affordable and twice the groceries for the cost compared to California. Living here is become unsustainable.
Our issue is that we can afford a better life there, but we have to get there. Moving costs are astonishingly expensive. A moving company would cost $4,000 to $5,000. Renting a Uhaul truck, one way, is $3,800 plus the estimated $200 for gas and hiring help to carry.
This why we are coming to GoFundMe. To ask for help in affording the move. We are asking for a possible $3,500 or anything that helps us reduce the crushing costs.
We cannot express enough our appreciation for any donation.
“Go confidentially in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you’ve imagined.” Thoreau
With that quote in mind: we are both trying so earnestly for a better life.

To those who have donated and supported us. You have our hearts and gratitude. And we hope to share with you the energy and happiness this new life, we know, will bring. Our love to you....T&Dxx
