My husband and I live in Anchorage, having moved here from Nome, Alaska, in 2020 to access greater healthcare services. I work full-time, and my husband has been disabled since June 2022, and is unable to work or physically exert himself. This future move is going to be very difficult for us as we will have to do a lot of physical labor in a short amount of time and my husband's disability limits how much work he can do.
We need to move from our current rental to another property by next week - Mar. 15. We have been at our current location for five years. We are moving because the property owners have sold this house. We are actively looking for new properties and taking tours of places that might meet our needs. We hope to find a ground-level rental to make it easier to move.
We are asking for support to help cover these costs:
- moving services in Anchorage (estimated $500),
- support for helping with professional cleaning of our current rental by the time we move (estimated $500), and
- funds to help with the initial rental fees for the new place ($1,500 for first month's rent).
Our finances are slim. We scrape by each month on my wages, and we often have to go without groceries for a week in between paychecks. Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches keep us going.
We will be packing everything for the relocation to save money, and I will do as much intense cleaning as possible before bringing in cleaning professionals to finish the work in time for the post-rental inspection.
