Dear friends and valued customers, This is going to be a long, emotional post, so please bare with me. We started our little business in April of 2020 with a whopping 40 chickens when we still lived in Garden Home. We sold our eggs out of our farm stand for $5 a dozen. At this time, Alex's mom was renting the farm house that we currently live in. COVID hit and both Alex and I were laid off. I was managing a bar, and Alex was a sous chef. The restaurant industry took a huge hit and everything closed.
We start scrambling "what the heck are we going to do?!" That's when the idea of Ladybird Farm popped in our desperate minds. We have ALWAYS dreamed of being chicken farmers, we already had the basic knowledge, we got the okay from Alex's mom to start raising hens on the property.
We moved our current flock of 40, and ordered 100 baby chicks. We drove from Garden Home to Forest Grove, every single morning to care the ladies and baby chicks. Well, December comes and Alex's mom notices our determination to make Ladybird Farm work for our family, for our future. She then offered the house up to us. A month later, we move our family. Alex, my daughter Brylee, myself, our 3 dogs and 3 cats.
I can't quite describe the happiness we all felt to be moving to the country, on the farm we already have all our animals. We could finally REALLY focus on our dreams and expand our business, and let me tell you, it hasn't been anything short of amazing, an actual dream come true. We have made this house a home.
While our property owner promised us that
would this land would be ours to farm on for many years, tonight while delivery eggs, she sent us a text message giving us our 60 day notice. Her health is declining and she is in need of the house/property. This is where we need your guys help
In 60-90 days we have to move Ladybird Farm and find a rental property that meets our current needs. With such short notice and being 2nd year farmers with zero loans or zero help we have little, to no saving. EVERYTHING has gone to the farm. It’s our livelihood. We need help with moving costs/moving the animals/ moving trucks, animal crates, applications, deposits.
Since this was completely unexpected, we have to reach out to our community for help! We have worked too hard to just throw all of this away. Anything is appreciated
