At 55 years old, I have been laid off for almost a year. Despite sending out hundreds of resumes, follow-up emails, and phone calls, I haven’t had any luck finding work yet. Four weeks ago, my wife was told that the property she manages was being taken over by a new company. They interviewed her, offered her the job verbally, and told her she needed a certification by April 1st. She passed the exam and got the certification, even though it was an expense we really didn’t have, since hers was the only income we were living on. Just three days ago, they informed her that they decided to go in another direction, and March 31st will be her last day. Now, we are facing the real possibility of being homeless in a few weeks, with no support system to help us. We have faith that God will provide a way for us, and we pray that His will be done, not our own.

We are asking for help to move from South Carolina, where we are stranded, back to Columbus, Ohio. There, we have a better chance of finding work and rebuilding our lives. The funds raised will go directly toward moving expenses, securing a place to stay, and helping us get back on our feet. We are in our mid-50s, and our credit has taken a big hit due to my long-term unemployment. For almost a year, we’ve had to choose between food, medications for illnesses, and rent over keeping up with credit payments.
